Birthday

So on my birthday, all of my family made it to Cinzetti’s for dinner. Dad even went up to Fort Collins to pick up my Grandma and my Great Aunt. It was my family (tim just got back in town) sara and her husband, tim’s fiancé, and my dad’s parents. It was good to see everyone, and I enjoyed myself. I really get a kick out of my great aunt who is 90 something, mostly deaf and mostly bind, yet still has a great attitude. The restaurant is sorta buffet style, and it was just cool to see aunt mimi just holding on to mom, as she was informed what was to choose from. It was a good evening.

I tried to find someone to invite, but yah. I called two people who couldn’t make it, and I couldn’t think of anyone who’d feel comfortable in such mass of relatives. SO that was a little bummer.

That night Steve joined me up in Golden. It was pretty awesome. The night turned into hiking up to the M on the side of look out mountain. The hike started at about 1 am. One cool thing was Drew offered us to borrow his Canon Mark II digital camera (über expensive nice camera.) I quickly took him up on the offer. The flaw was I hadn’t worked with one before, and in the pitch black night I could not read any of the buttons. With what I could figure out in the dark we got quite a few good pictures. There was some good conversation and steve made great company.

The adventure ended around 3 AM. Steve and I got back to find Greg still playin on his computer, his girlfriend asleep on the couch. He tells me to get Drew, I thought we were having another ice-cream social (that’s when all of us roommates just eat ice-cream bars for a few minutes together.) I whisper to drew, and invite him to the social, he politely declines, and informs me he loves me. I head back down stairs, and Greg doesn’t accept the fact that Drew is not getting up. After Greg wakes up Drew and gets him downstairs he made Steven photographer and they disappeared to the kitchen. Elana, Drew and I sat on the couch waiting. To our surprise greg came out with a key lime pie and tiramisu, each with three candles in them. Elana had a birthday about 6 days ago, Drew, about 4 and mines about 12 hours before.

I was just laughing as greg cued up some birthday song on his computer and sang along. We sat around and ate more than our fair shares. Steve did get some good photos of that. Nothing like slap happy pie and birthday celebration at almost 4 AM. Poor elana had work that morning. All in all good fun.

Steve thanks for coming up to golden and making time. You rock. Drew thank you for trusting two teenagers to take your 5 grand camera rig on a hike at 1 AM. Elana thanks for including me in so much. Greg, thank you for being bold, and crazy.

Happy Birthday, Matt. I’m glad you have such good friends and family to make your birthday a good, and fun day. I said the rest in the birthday card.

for me, I’m simply glad to have you in my life for another year…. now back to being sick.
