I hate you wind! (Bike racing)
Sunday, April 30th, 2006Laramie WY -
Today’s bike racing was just vicious. As we started the race for the Road Ride at 8 AM, (46+ miles) it was snowing, and windy and cold and miserable! The strong wind pushed us downhill at about 50 mph, then we turned around the rode right back up it. That’s where it got bad, STRONG winds, big hills. One thing I do love about cycling is how nice the guys are, at least in the C’s (honestly!) I really was dying on the way back, as was EVERYONE. The total time was over 2 hours and 40 minutes, ouch. I didn’t like the course with the last 20+ miles uphill, not mentioning the wind. The girls had a really bad crash about 21 miles in, I think one girl messed up here face and broke some teeth, another broke a collar bone, and two others went down but didn’t quite get messed up as much. Since the race lasted so long we had 2 hours before the team time trial started. This was my first time trial, but I was SO tired, I felt broken and torn apart. The time trial went alright, I was moving alright but no one on our team was going good, so we’ll see what the results look like.
*deep breath* Tomorrow’s Crit is at 7:10 AM! Argh, I’m going to veg for a bit then get some sleep. I’m still dead.
