Well the van’s temp registration ended yesterday, and I’m now thinking she might not be on the road again, at least not under Matteson command. So yah – no more Safari, and the bug was having the oil light fun see oil light post. Turns out the bug is alright, just the cable to the sensor is a little wonky, at least that’s what my testing says. That means I have a car again. Now how about those boat motors.

Tuesday, May 23rd, 2006VW Beetle Oil Light
Tuesday, May 23rd, 2006This little post is to help out anyone searching to figure out their oil light flicker on thier VW bug’s.
Driving back from Highlands ranch with Alex a few days ago, my oil light came on under any load. I nursed it home. Hoping it was just over heating, I left it, and tried it the next day. This time the oil light was flickering always, not just with a load or say at a certian RPM. Today I made it back up there, hoping I could play with it a little more after talking with the mechanic that has worked on my bug for a while.
Today, the light was flickering still. Seemed real weird, it came on soild if I had the clutch in, but when it was just in neutral it was flickering less. Turns out I think she is alright. After playing with the cable that runs to the oil sensor the light would and would not go on. I believe my cable has developed a slight short, or the contacts on the wire need cleaned off. Depending on where the cable was pushed the light would come on or off. So if you have some oil pressure light alerts, play with the cable first, make sure it’s not grounding out, shorting, or such.

Word press – pmachine
Monday, May 22nd, 2006My weblog was running off a package called pMachine, it is a commercial weblog software. I decided, with Andrew’s help, decided to move to WordPress. So welcome to the new MattMatteson.com living on wordpress. Update your bookmark/rss feeds and what not. I believe I got everything to transfer over, which is quite amazing. I’ll leave the other site up for a bit to make sure this is going to work out. If you find some trouble with this, send me an email. Maybe with some free time this summer I can get some need photo gallery <-> weblog integration, as well as some other neat things.
