Casa Bonita Album
Sure it may be a month late, but I hope you’ll still enjoy them.
Two sets, first Saturday’s pictures. These include just a few pictures I took of the cold morning before my short track race. The others are from the conference banquet.
Sunday’s pictures include some photos the team took on my camera of the Cross Country race I was in. This is the race where about the last 3 miles I was way past bonked. The pop tart I ate devoured right after I crossed the finish line was the most amazing food I have enjoyed.
The road was smooth, and treaded tires hummed their high speed song. The Mazda6 and I headed home after dinner and an evening with Dad that sandwiched a 2 hour computer job for the neighbor. The familiar noise of the iPhone complimented the alert of the screen coming. The device was celebrating 10:27 PM and a message from Jessica.
“How is your thursday night going”
I have guidelines for my personal cell phone use while operating a vehicle. The guidelines say I can call back an awesome girl while monitoring the horizon for things that do not fit under the car. Jessica is enjoying a night out with some friends, but still takes the time to chat. We catch up on the little stories off life, and I let her get back to the entertainment of closer proximity.
It’s midnight, I continue to test the workings of the internet I receive another message.
“Come play”
“That’s nice” I say to myself. I’d love to, turns out traveling over 890 miles is not in the cards for the evening. I have class in the morning. “I am in college” I think to myself, yah, really, I did. How long is this era of minimal responsibilities going to stick around? The mind wonders, and around 12:30 I reply, “What are you doing this weekend?” The response only offers more hope for the crazy idea I have of ditching Golden for the weekend. I get serious, pull up some flight booking sites, and cash in my booty of 12,000 miles that I had claimed in Frontiers name.
12:49 “My confirmation code is DCRZDR”
The weather of Golden loaded the mood for the day. I departed from my 11 AM class, met Lance for lunch at Tequila’s. He was not feeling so hot and took part in only a glass of sprite and the tortia chips. His conversation provided bounds stronger than his stomach. After a packing intermission, I was off to the airport, I was Fort Worth bound.
Maggie was the young woman who greeted me at the curb. Maggie and I had been partners in the battle to survive the unreliable world of high school. As I threw my bag in the car, all of my planned actions of the weekend had taken place. I was ready to simply hold on for the ride. My weekend’s agenda was now to be written as it was executed.
Friends of Maggie are awesome. I will not do a proof by exhaustion, but note I am a friend of Maggie, and Jessica, the person who I spoke with on Thursday was a friend of Maggie. That is the evidence I offer you.
The weekend in the house of Jessica and Maggie was comfortable, entertaining, relaxing and forced me to think. The house was comfortable. The friends were true and honest. From one entertaining event to another I was happy to be there.
Excitement of the weekend was enjoyed in a ratio with relaxation that matched my expectations and desires for the trip. As Jessica disappeared for work, Maggie would resume care of me. When school called both of them, I used the time to catch up on sleep, work, and thought.
I wasn’t visiting, I felt although I was apart of the weekend, I was transplanted. This level of interaction let me to see a bit deeper into my friends and myself.
Oh life; how I enjoy your unpredictable paths, and bizarre scenarios you breed.
